“Mommy, I’m a Super Spy!”
Bethany has begun to really learn the words to some of my favourite Christmas carols this year. While she’s known them by sound and danced along in the past, this year she’s making an honest attempt to both sing along and sing them to herself as she plays.
At least, she’s learned MOST of the words. Sometimes, especially when you’re unfamiliar with a song, we “hear” the words wrong. Grown ups do it and kids do too. Why I remember the time, I totally thought the words to that Eminem song were “G” rated…then I met Corey and he showed me the CD cover. They were SOOO not “G” rated. I’d heard them completely wrong.
This weekend I’ve gotten such a kick out of some of Bethany’s versions of the carols I thought I’d share them with you…
Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer
Bethany’s Version – ♪”All of the other reindeer, used to flap and call him names…”♪
We wish you a Merry Christmas
Bethany’s Version – ♪”Now bring us some piggy pudding, now bring us some piggy pudding, now BRING US SOME PIGGY pudding, and a cup of good year“♪
Santa Clause is Coming to Town
Bethany’s Version: ♪“You better not shout, you better not lie, you better not pout I’m telling you why. Santa Clause is coming to town. He sees you when you’re sleeping, he knows when you’re a fake“
My Mom has a whole bunch of those different Christmas characters that you push a button and they sing, or dance, or wiggle their bums. The kids love them and my Mom enjoys hearing them just as much. Today, when Bethany and I were on our shopping date, I looked in the rear view mirror and saw her smiling. When I asked her what she was smiling about, this is what she said
Mommy: “What are you smiling about?”
Bethany: “The song from the snowman at Grams house is running around and around my head.”
Mommy: “Aww. Why don’t you sing it to me, that sometimes helps”
Bethany: “I can’t, he won’t stop running and I can’t hear the words”
