Lego Duplo: A lesson & a GIVEAWAY!!

by Ashley on November 15, 2012

in Contest, Lego Duplo

It’s hard to believe that with November already half over (seriously, HALF OVER!) Christmas is just around the corner.  Stores are filling up with all things red, green and sparkly, houses slowly being covered in tacky & obnoxious lovely lights & talk of Christmas pagents around the dinner table.

It’s a time of year that holds joy, memories, laughter and family, it’s one of my favourites.  I love the music, the emotions, the traditions (the cookies) and now that I’m a mother, the opportunity to teach our girls about the Spirit of giving.

Each year as we wade our way into the Christmas season Corey and I spend a great deal of time trying to ward off the “Gimmies” and promote the “Givies”.  We want our girls’ desire to give to others to be greater than their desire to receive, most of all we want them to understand that Christmas isn’t at all about the gifts under the tree but the people around it and the gift that God’s given in Jesus’ birth.

As they get older the lessons are beginning to sink in for them and some of the traditions we’ve set in place are starting to make sense.  Every year I organize a food drive for the company I work for.  It’s a wonderful event that never ceases to bring tears to my eyes as I watch mountains of food be unloaded for those who’s tummies are hungry.  Being that Bethany & Audrey come to work with me, they’ve been able to experience the joy of giving through these Food drives each year.  From the invitations in the mail, to the pick ups at each business, to the doors of the Food bank our girls see the good that comes from people. They see the blessings in the bags of groceries and they’re learning that the tears in the eyes of their Momma & their Grammy are tears of thankfulness and blessing.  They’re learning that giving strikes deep into the core of who  you are and can be such a great joy!

This year, we have another great giving opportunity from our friends at Lego!

This year Lego Duplo is showcasing 8 of the hottest toys for the holidays and they want to give 1 lucky Our Family Stone reader the opportunity to win their favourites!

Here’s how you win:

1. Take a look at the image below, see those 8 amazing Lego Duplo sets?  Look at them carefully, think hard about who you know that might LOVE a chance to play with them.

2. Leave me a comment telling me which 4 Lego Duplo Sets  you like to win and why!

3. The winner will receive those exact 4 sets, mailed to them before the holidays, prewrapped!!  (They thought of everything!)

1. Snow White’s Cottage, 2. Play with Numbers, 3. My First Zoo, 4. Brick Box, 5. Creative Cakes, 6. My First Supermarket, 7. Sleeping Beauty’s Room, 8. Play with Letters

That’s it!  It’s that simple.  Check them out, leave a comment and cross your fingers!  Then think about who you’re going to share that awesome Lego goodness with!

Ooh, I love duplo, both my kiddos play with it constantly. We already have the Snow White set at out house and it is an important part of our set as a whole. Nice to have girl characters you know?! We have lots of friends who would love to receive any of the above sets. If I were to choose four, I would go with numbers 3, 5, 6, and 7. Thanks for hosting such a great giveaway!

Haha my husband would love to play with all of them, yes even the princess sets! He loves to play lego with Addison. I would choose:
1. Snow White’s Cottage
2. Play with Letters (Addison loves her letters!)
3. Brick box
4. Creative Cakes because Addison loves to bake!

Koala Mama November 16, 2012 at 11:42 pm

My little ones are almost 5 (girl) and almost 3 (boy). My daughter would love 1 and 7 because she plays with them at preschool and talks about them non-stop :) My son has recently been diagnosed as being on the autism spectrum and is a visual learner so 3 and 6 would be right up his alley. In the spirit of your post, I would ask my kids to pick one each to keep and one each to donate. My 3 year old might not get it but my 5 year old would think that’s cool.

Hey, still reading your blog!
Would love for this to go to some kids who don’t have a ton in my church! Not sure which ones are best, if I win, I would TOTALLY trust you to make a mom decision here and figure out which could go to those in need.

angela November 20, 2012 at 6:49 pm

i would LOVE LOVE LOVE ” creative cakes”, “my first zoo”, “play with numbers” and “play with letters”. Hope I commented in time! I usually check your blog regularly, but I’ve been out of my routine.
