Lego Duplo Jam – Giveaway!

Quiet is one of those “sounds” that is rare in our house.  In fact, if we aren’t all in bed, or out of the house completely it’s a good chance that it’s the opposite of quiet here.

There’s the  earth shattering noise sweet sounds of children playing, the washing machine/dishwasher/furnace running and some sort of musical soundtrack to tie it all together.

Playing Music

I have a musical soul, often times I joke that music is so deeply engrained in my being that it seeps from my pores.   God has made music a part of who I am, playing piano, singing to our girls or rocking out with them on the way to school it’s how I handle my days, how I process, how I feel.

Singing

Bethany and Audrey are no different, they are constantly singing, whether there is music playing or not.  Sometimes it’s soft and tender to their babies and other times it’s loud and intense as their version of opera takes over whatever task is at hand.   The older Bethany get’s the more her range and ability to keep those high notes on key blows both my mind and my eardrums.

With the infusion of music around this house it’s little surprise that our girls play best when there are tunes playing.  Sometimes they dance and jump around the living room, other times they’re so lost in play it seems they don’t even hear it or they’ll do things, like play with their Lego Duplo randomly belting out the parts to songs they know.

Daddy Lego Play

A few months ago, we received the Lego Duplo Jams CD.   Filled with upbeat, and energetic songs, it’s the perfect sound track for any rainy afternoon of in the house play.

According to the play experts over at Lego Duplo, music is more that just a way to get your kids to bust some cute moves:

“A little background music can help children sing along, build and play while they learn simple things like colors, stacking, letters and role play. A 2011 study of parents with children age 15 Years reveals that among children that listen to music during playtime: 55% of children are happier when music is coupled with play; 50% are more excited to play when they hear music and 43% act sillier when music is coupled with play.”

I don’t know about you, but I’m down for anything that makes our girls happier and more joyful!

As our time with Lego Duplo draws to an end we have one more great giveaway for YOU!

  1. Addison’s favourite song would be, The Ants Go Marching. She loves to march around the house with me or Spencer. I think her next favourite song would be I just Can’t Wait to Be King from the Lion King.

  2. My son loves the classic nursery rhymes such as hey diddle diddle or twinkle twinkle little stars.

  3. My daughter loves a bunch of the songs on the Strawberry Shortcake web site. She’s been listening to them for a couple of years.
