Soothing with Eucerin Review & #Giveaway!

We’re a sensitive bunch around here.  Our hearts, our eardrums (ok, just my eardrums…kids are so loud!) and our skin.  Bethany and I in particular have very sensitive skin.

I have eczema and in the winter months it can be a disaster.  I can get so dry on my eyelids that the sweat from a workout burns the skin, and my arms chap so badly.  In the summer shaving, while necessary often leaves me scaly despite gallons of lotion.  It’s both gross and embarrassing, and if it weren’t for the whole having to braid the ol’ leg hairs if I didn’t shave, I wouldn’t.

I always thought I had it rough…until Bethany came along.

Right from the day she was born Bethany’s skin has been giving us trouble.  We have to be incredibly careful with laundry detergent and don’t use any fabric softeners (thank heavens for dryer balls).  We’re cautious on bath/body soaps and approach most lotions with extreme caution.

This past winter she was officially diagnosed with psoriasis.  Her little legs were a mess and I felt so bad for her.  We tried SO many over the counter creams/lotions, and were always left wanting.  Some worked mildly but left a stinging burning feeling, others didn’t hurt but didn’t work.  We were at our wits end, it was looking like our doctor’s suggestion of petroleum jelly was going to be the only recourse.

Then we were give the chance to try two Eucerin products – Eucerin Calming Crème and Eucerin Aquaphor Protectant Ointment.  Both products promise relief from dry, itching skin and while I was skeptical to say the least, I figured it was worth a try.

I am SO glad we tried!

Eucerin Calming Creme

As I do with anything new I tried it on myself first.  Over the past month or so I’ve been using the Eucerin Calming Crème on my dry, cracked and sometime bleeding hands and elbows.  The change in them is noticeable.  They no longer burn and have healed up so nicely.  I love that the cream doesn’t leave my skin feeling slimy or slick, but soft and moisturized.  I keep it down by where I workout and put lotion on my hands before I begin and have no problem with hanging onto my weights.  (Something that couldn’t be said for other lotions).

Eucerin Aquaphor Skin Protectant Ointment

The Eucerin Aquaphor Protectant Ointment has worked out well for my post shave legs, however it’s a little heavier and I generally prefer the cream.

Bethany’s skin is responding very similarly.   Her legs have healed up completely and while some of that is due to the weather warming up I believe the other is due to the lotion.  It’s fragrance-free, collodial oatmeal formula is working wonders on our house.

I think, after many years & dollars spent searching for a solution to our dry skin issues we’ve finally found something that works!  These lotions go a long way and will last a long time, but when it comes time to purchase more you can bet I’ll be buying the Eucerin Calming Crème.

  1. I used to have eczema too…it went away completely when I removed dairy from my diet. For me, it was a symptom of a food allergy and I am so glad I figured it out. Creams can help but they never take it away.

So glad you found something the helps both you and Bethany!

  2. I have eczema also (as do both my boys) mine is more hormonal related (was gone for many years until I delivered my oldest son). My oldest seems to be outgrowing it, but my youngest still has flare ups.

  3. I would like to win this for my husband. He's a welder so he gets really dry skin from being exposed to such extreme temperatures.

  4. All four of my kids as well as myself have dry skin issues. My two little guys also have problems with eczema. Clearly, we are a family that could use this prize pack!

  5. I have a bit of mild eczema, sensitive and dry skin and Rosacea, and this is one product I haven’t tried yet but I would like to — I have heard a lot of good things about it.

  6. My hands are horrible. This winter my fingers were taking turns cracking. They’ve finally gotten a little bit better with the weather but with excessive hand washing due to diaper changing no lotion has been working. Definitely need to give this brand a try!

  7. I get dry patches on my skin during the winter months and it is flaky too. I hate it!
