One of the first movies I watched with Corey when we started dating was Monsters Inc. He was appalled to find out that I’d never seen Smokey and the Bandit, Airwolf or Monsters Inc. When I failed to take the bait on the first two (read: I have good taste in cinematography) we decided to rent Monsters Inc.
Turns out Corey’s taste in movies wasn’t completely distorted – I loved it! We watched it a few times over and from time to time, we’d lament that we couldn’t wait to share it with our children when they got old enough.
Then we had 2 little girls who live a little on the side of cautious, sometimes even fearful. Bethany in particular was very sensitive to things that were “scary” in nature and when we realized that even the Care Bears gave her nightmares (thankyouverymuch Shreeky) we decided Monsters Inc would have to wait.
Fast forward 3 years and she’s not nearly as fearful and while Audrey get’s scared by things, it’s not quite as intense. With Monsters University planning to hit theaters, Sully, Mike and the crew were starting to hit stores again. The girls kept seeing the “cute, fuzzy, blue guy” and the “green pea with one eye” and wanted to see the movie.
So we did….they loved it!
When the girls realized that the Monsters were really good guys, it changed everything for them. Audrey runs around the house shouting “Boo! (dramatic pause) Did I scare you?”, over and over and over. It started out cute…now? Not so much.
Anyways, their love of the movie has translated over to love of all things Monsters Inc and when they heard that our buddies at Kinder were coming out with a special Kinder® Surprise® Monsters University toy collection they were SUPER excited!
These Kinder Surprise Eggs are unlike any other, as they are the first series of specially marked eggs to guarantee 100% licensed toys inside! No more 1 in 3, this is 1 in 1, 3 in 3, 100 in 100! (You get it, I’m just sayin’ you can’t eat just one!)
You can check out Mike, Sully and some of their new friends over at the Kinder Canada Facebook page and vote for your favourite!
I’d love to know what you think of Kinder Canada’s decision to make 100% of their specially marked Monsters University eggs contain a licensed toy? Will this make a difference on your purchasing an egg for your child knowing they’re guaranteed to get something a little extra special inside?
