I spent the first 8 years of my working career in the drugstore business. From the time I was very small the idea of working in retail intrigued me, so much so that one year with my allowance I purchased a real cash register, that I spent hours playing with (until its inner workings caught fire that is).
The job that began with me washing windows and cleaning bathrooms evolved over those years into many things – cashier, merchandiser, security, POS person and finally store manager. It was something I was good at and I loved every second of it. It was the people, the work and the extra training I received, especially the training that involved cosmetics that I enjoyed so much.
I love all things beauty related, it too was a big part of my youth however, it’s something I wasn’t as good at. I can apply all the basics, and from time to time can even manage the odd “smokey eye” but that’s about where the brush stops. Many of the beauty tips and tricks of today elude me and often times I’m left feeling a little (or a lot) overwhelmed.
While time has changed so many things my love of the retail world and my need for beauty assistance (I also could use someone to dress me but we’ll save THAT for another day) has remained the same.
That’s where Shoppers Drug Mart comes in.
They are by far my favorite retail drugstore chain and for a good reason. They’re selection is superb, their prices are fair, their pharmacy staff is excellent, their cosmetologist are always ready to help and their sales/promotions are excellent – not to mention the Optimum points!
From August 17 2013 – September 15 2013 Shoppers Drug Mart is hosting their 30 Days of Beauty Campaign and I’m super excited! My cosmetically challenged self is loving all the exciting things that have happened and are to come in their 3rd Annual National Biggest Beauty event of the year.
Here’s what’s going on:
– 30 unique “Looks/Occasions” being show cased through makeover videos, tutorials and “How To’s” both in store and online
– Month long offers on great beauty brands as well as 1 day only specials
– There are over 50 (!) brands participating in this great event including – Lancôme, Biotherm, Lise Watier (a personal favourite), Clinique, Benefit, Elizabeth Arden, Clarins, CoverGirl, Revlon, Quo and Gosh!
– Appointments for FREE 5 minute makeovers are available for in-store for customers to discover their favourite 30 Days of Beauty look (this works out great for me!)
– From August 24 – 30th when you spend $75 in Cosmetics, Skin Care or Fragrance receive a special Gift with Purchase will be available, while supplies last (A beautiful silver cosmetic pouch containing 25 beauty and fragrance samples)
The best part is that the 30 Days of Beauty website (30daysofbeauty.ca) is running live through the entire event offering customers some really great opportunities – print to redeem in-store 1 day only coupons, the instructional videos mentioned above, information on all the great brands participating in the event and all the details on how you can enter to win a grand prize of $1MM Shoppers Optimum Points in the “Submit your Look” contest!! (If you know me at all you’ll know points make me really, REALLY happy!)
They’ve got some great “Looks/Occasions” to be watching for over the campaign including: Some examples: Black Tie Event, Outdoor Wedding, Milestone Birthday, Beach Day with your Guy, High School Reunion, First Date, Trip of a Lifetime.
I can’t tell you how excited I am about the 30 Days of Beauty event! One because I know you’re going to love it and two (which is slightly more selfish) because I’m loving it. This is my chance guys, to go from beauty geek to beauty chic…or least to have a lot of fun trying!
So go, check out the 30 Days of Beauty website, hit your local Shoppers Drug Mart (I know, you already do!), book that makeover, print those coupons and have FUN learning how to add the glitter to your already beautiful you!
Tell me – What feature are you looking for in the 30 Days of Beauty campaign? Are you cosmetically challenged like I am or do you have this all in the “make-up” bag?
