I don’t believe in New Year’s Resolutions, actually I hate them.  I believe they’re give us license to make poor decisions the majority of the year (primarily December) in hopes of a big “change” for the New Year.  They masquerade around as though they’re going to make those changes easier because everyone’s doing it together but really they’re setting us up for disappointment when those changes get hard because let’s face it change is ALWAYS hard.

Don’t get me wrong change for the positive is ALWAYS worth it and pushing through the hard parts, the challenges will only make you stronger, happier and more confident that you can do it!   The thing is, you need to make those changes because you want them, because you need them and not because we’re hitting a New Year.

Every day is a new day, it’s brand new and you have the chance to make it whatever you want it to be.  The mistakes from yesterday, the years of bad decisions, the over indulgences enjoyed then regretted can’t have today, they may try to whisper you can’t, you’ve already failed why try?” but we know YOU CAN do this!

One of favorite quotes about change is from Jillian Michaels (because of course it is!)

“Think of your weight loss journey as a car. If you were driving along and got a flat tire, would you slash the other 3 tires and call it a complete loss? No. You would fix that one tire and keep going”

She’s talking weight but I’m talking life.  Don’t think that one flat tire, one mistake is your undoing, it’s a glitch.  Throw the knife away, out, change it (or if you me call Corey, he knows what to do with that pretty red thing that hides with my van’s spare tire) and move on with your life.

Each year is filled with 365 days of fresh starts and new chances – I dare you to take that chance today!

  1. I’m ready to get my almost 41 year old body in better shape. After having my son 3 .5 years ago I succumbed to motherhood’s demands and have become more soft and squishy then I ever thought I would. It’s time to make some changes.

  2. I probably wouldn't join, i tend to get my motivation from my sister or my friends who will exercise with me. got our gym membership for the new year! already to start 🙂

  3. Thanks for the butt kick Ashley! My favourite quote from Jillian is from this season of Biggest Loser about how you have to find the WHY because once you’ve found it the rest of it all falls into place. The why gives you the motivation to exercise. Thank for you the reminder!

  4. I let myself fall apart after having my son. And I can’t keep blaming the dryer on my clothes not fitting!! Time for change!

  5. My significant other is motivating me to make a change in my life! He has been living a healthy active lifestyle for years and I have committed to doing so as well 🙂

  8. I really want to get in shape. I feel better when I'm in shape. I breath better when I'm in shape. I'm in a much better mood. The other day I had to run to catch a train and I was out of breath pretty quickly. I also need to lose a few pounds. A facebook group would be great.
